Dewar's first Deployment Breakfast Club was a success! The deployment club is more than just a group. It helps students with active-duty military parents who are deployed by providing support for coping, creating community, and building pride in their parents' hard work while they are away. From connection with our Moody Volunteers and peers with parents deployed, to fun activities, and meaningful projects, being part of the Deployment Club benefits our students as a whole. We are grateful for our Moody Volunteers and for our military families. Remember Everyone Deployed!

Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Trina’s Kindergarten class enjoyed tasting treats to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day. Who knew apples were so tasty?!

Ms. Allison and Ms. Arnold's Kindergarten class celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day by learning about Apples. Students learned the process of how apples are harvested. They enjoyed taste-testing and voting for their favorite apple, as well as coloring apple patterns.
Students have been learning about the American Revolution and the events that led up to it. In honor of learning about the Tea Act and the Boston Tea Party, Ms. Roberts’ class threw their own tea party! They learned about how tea played a significant role in the colonies and Great Britain and enjoyed some yummy tea party treats!

Fall Picture Makeup Day will be on Thursday, October 2!

Mrs. King’s class had a fun Friday celebrating Johnny Appleseed Day! 🍎🍏 We made “apple pie in a cup” and wrote the steps to practice sequencing. We also taste-tested red, green, and yellow apples and created a picture graph with our results. The students had the BEST time today!

Ms. Holmes' class read "How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World" and made apple pie in a cup to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day.

Our 5th grade students have been diving deep into the new curriculum, Benchmark Advance. They have been studying natural resources, and the focus was all about one of the most important crops in the world: corn! From learning how it’s grown and harvested to understanding its many uses in our daily lives, our students are gaining a true appreciation for the role natural resources play in our communities and environment.
And what better way to bring learning to life than through FOOD? 🤤
💛🌽 A HUGE, heartfelt shoutout to Ambrosia and Chef G of Creole Sol for going above and beyond. They cooked and delivered delicious corn for every single 5th grade class and their teachers! Your generosity and support made this lesson unforgettable and gave our students a meaningful (and tasty!) connection to their learning.
Thank you for pouring love into every bite and for being such a special part of our school community. 🌟

Thank you so much to Virginia Atkinson from Salt & Light Consignments for coming to read to our students, bringing them treats, and making a generous donation to our CPIE account!

Mrs. Lambert’s and Mrs. Niuman’s Kindergarten class read "When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree" and made lemonade!

This year’s theme at Dewar is “Adventure Awaits,” and our 5th-grade students are taking that literally! They kicked off Social Studies by traveling around the room to explore key historical sites like the Chisholm Trail, Kitty Hawk, Chicago, Montgomery, and Philadelphia. From cattle drives to civil rights, they’re gearing up for an exciting journey through American history!
