5th-grade students wrapped up their ELA government unit with a Constitution Celebration! 🇺🇸 They explored how the Constitution was created, learned about amendments, voting rights, and civil rights, and brought their learning to life through a Readers’ Theater. Students also completed hands-on tasks that challenged them to interpret the Preamble and analyze the significance of voting rights in a democracy.

Classroom chaos: the good kind! Mrs. Renfroe’s 5th graders went back in time to 1929 for a hands-on simulation of the stock market crash. Students analyzed data, made trades, and definitely felt the pressure of the stock market!

This week during professional learning, our teachers kicked off a mini-series focused on Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and how they support student and teacher learning.
Teachers engaged in meaningful research, discussion, and reflection through a myth vs. reality activity, exploring DuFour’s three big ideas of PLCs, and watching a video of a PLC meeting in action noting practices that felt familiar to their own collaborative work and other key elements that stood out to them!
We’re proud of our teachers’ commitment to learning together so we can continue growing and supporting every student!

Students in Mrs. Hanson’s class traveled back in time to the 1920s to buy and sell stocks. What started as a roaring success quickly turned into the Great Depression after the Stock Market Crash. By the end, students walked away with a deeper empathy for those who lived through this time and a stronger understanding of how economic hardship affects real lives. Whether they walked away with a profit or an empty wallet, everyone walked away with a fun and memorable learning experience. 💰💵📉
