March is Youth Art Month!

Third graders in Ms. Ply’s class were busy strengthening their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills! 📖 Students analyzed a text about Thomas Edison and worked collaboratively to decide whether they agreed with the author’s claim that he was one of the greatest American inventors. Using evidence from the text, students discussed their ideas with peers and wrote thoughtful responses to support their reasoning. We love seeing our students engage in rich discussions and develop strong evidence-based thinking!

Fifth-grade scientists teamed up to create their own dichotomous keys to sort plants. By carefully comparing features such as leaf shape, size, and vein patterns, they asked yes-or-no questions to classify and identify each plant. Through collaboration, discussion, and a little detective work, these young scientists discovered that working together is the ✨key✨ to success! 🌿🔑

Mrs. Daniels and Ms. Milton’s third-grade classes are currently in the unit, Advancements in Technology, and to show just how advanced technology has come, she brought in a VCR and TV. The class enjoyed watching a VHS recording of Mrs. Daniels performing in her 3rd-grade talent show in 1988.

March is Youth Art Month!

Students in Mrs. Godwin’s 3rd-grade classes have been learning about area and perimeter. They used stuffed animals and created a pen for them. Then they found the area and perimeter of their animal’s pen. This was a fun, hands-on way to be the owner of a make-believe pet and determine how much fencing would be needed to make a pen for their animal.

Congratulations to February's Teacher and Staff Member of the Month, Ms. Melanie Graham and Deputy Kathi Bair!
