Big thanks to our Social Committee for sponsoring "Share the LOVE!" ❤️
What a lovely way to celebrate our staff — the hearts-by-grade idea and the color-code dots made it so easy (and fun) to share appreciation.
Social Committee — you made our days brighter and our Dewar team stronger. Thank you for spreading the love! 💜✨

Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Trina’s Kindergarten class celebrated a fun-filled Valentine’s Day with slime making and partying. “Best day ever”, they said.

Ms. Swopes' 2nd graders put their math skills to the test in a FUN and engaging way thanks to Ms. Swopes’ Colquitt EMC Bright Ideas activity! To prepare for our math test covering addition, subtraction, and word problems, our second graders became detectives for the day during a Math Mystery Puzzle Challenge! Students worked in teams, and each detective received their own detective booklet and one group record sheet. Before earning a stamp and secret code from Ms. Swopes, every student had to solve each problem independently — teamwork AND accountability! After visiting every station, students used their collected clues to crack the final code and unlock the TREASURE BOX! Way to go, Math Detectives — we are so proud of your hard work and problem-solving skills!

Today, our 5th-grade girls had the pleasure of hearing from Ms. Stephanie Bullard, owner of Etiquette and Grace Academy. The girls enjoyed a light breakfast snack while learning proper table etiquette. Of course, we had to provide them with fancy tableware to complete the experience! Thank you, Ms. Bullard, for sharing your skills and your passion with our young ladies! #WomentoWarriors

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Ramirez for guest speaking at our Leadership Conference and pouring into our students! 💙
She truly brought everything full circle by providing hands-on symbols that helped our students connect the leadership characteristics they learned in their breakout sessions to real-life skills. Her message was meaningful, engaging, and inspiring.
It was especially special to have Dr. Ramirez with us, as she is the one who originally brought the Student Council to life here at Dewar. Seeing her continue to invest in our students and our school community was truly a full-circle moment.
We are so grateful for her time, passion, and dedication to developing future leaders. Thank you, Dr. Ramirez, for making such a lasting impact! 🌟

The Tooth Fairy from Southland's Children's Dentistry sprinkled her fairy dust and taught pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st grade how to take care of their teeth and the importance of healthy foods and teeth.

Mrs. Singletary's and Ms. E's Kindergarten Class loved reviewing Heart Words and Math Concepts, playing Kahoot! They also enjoyed being a bunny and hopping down the Heart Word Trail.

Last week, during our Women to Warriors activity, our 5th-grade girls had the incredible opportunity to learn from a local business owner. Jesse Deen, owner of Expressions Dance Studio, shared what it’s really like to own a business—the hard work, the passion, and the fun that comes with it! Our girls asked thoughtful, meaningful questions and loved learning from her experience. To top it off, they even picked up some new dance moves along the way! 💃✨
We are so proud of their curiosity and confidence!

Dewar 5th Graders Are Making a Big Impact! 🐣 Annabelle and Rosalee Campbell from Valdosta Girl Scout Troop 40299 have earned their Bronze Award by creating lasting, positive change in our school community! They built and donated a brand-new chicken brooder, which will benefit Dewar students for years to come.
We can’t wait to see the Chicken Tender Club welcome new chicks this spring and enjoy the fruits of Annabelle and Rosalee’s hard work!

National School Counselor Week is a special time to recognize the heart, dedication, and impact of our school counselors. Dewar Elementary is incredibly grateful for Mrs. Jessica LeFiles and the care, guidance, and encouragement she provides to our students each day. She supports not only academic success, but also the social and emotional growth of every child she serves. We are thankful for Mrs. LeFiles’ commitment to helping our Dewar students thrive—today and every day.

To celebrate World Read Aloud Day, Ms. Swopes’ second graders invited Mrs. Lopez’s fifth graders to join us for a special read-aloud experience. Each fifth grader was paired with a second grader, and the pair chose a book to enjoy together. The fifth graders read aloud while the second graders listened with wide-open ears and big smiles! Afterward, students wrote about and illustrated their favorite part of the story. To wrap up our fun reading session, everyone enjoyed a delicious snack together. Thank you to our amazing fifth graders for being such wonderful reading role models and for helping us celebrate the joy of reading. We loved sharing this special day with you!
