Mrs. Lopez's 5th graders took inspiration from the novel, "Frindle," and got to work as word creators! 📝✨ They each invented a brand-new word, wrote their own definition, and pitched it to their classmates. The best part? The words were combined to create a 5th Grade Dictionary 📖🎉. Proof that when you give kids the power of words, they’ll make magic with it! 💡🔤

Mrs. Hanson’s students are rocking and rolling through their Earth science unit! Their latest activity? Using graham crackers and frosting to model plate tectonics! Who knew science could be so delicious?

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Trina’s kindergarten class enjoyed math centers! They were able to use their creativity and imagination to make learning fun on Friday.

Shelly’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to building strong partnerships have made an incredible impact on our students, families, and staff at Dewar Elementary. Her collaboration with community stakeholders continues to strengthen opportunities and support for our school, and we are so proud of her outstanding achievement!

Mrs. Ply's third graders are growing into thoughtful readers! Today, they practiced making annotations as they read — writing notes, circling important words, and adding symbols to help them think more deeply about the text. This strategy helps students stay engaged and build stronger comprehension skills. 📚✏️

Mrs. King’s 1st-grade class spent time discussing what makes a strong reader. Afterwards, students had independent reading time to practice and demonstrate those strong reading skills!
