Ms. Benefield's ELA classes have just wrapped up Unit 1 in Benchmark Advance, where they explored the fascinating world of corn cultivation and production in the U.S.
To showcase their learning, each student researched, wrote, and published an expository piece about corn production across the country. Then, taking their projects to the next level, students created AI characters using Adobe Express and recorded themselves reading their published writing to practice fluency and expression. To celebrate their hard work, students enjoyed a tasty snack of candy corn and popcorn while they watched and listened to each other’s recordings.

Mrs. Lopez's 5th graders just wrapped up a 3C's (Curate, Create, Collaborate) lesson, and they did an amazing job! 💪
Students curated information about corn from Unit 1 of Benchmark using a variety of multimodal texts to craft their own expository essays. Then, they took their writing a step further by designing Canva projects and recording themselves reading their essays aloud. 🎥✨
To wrap up, they collaborated with classmates by watching each other’s videos, leaving thoughtful and constructive feedback, all while enjoying some delicious popcorn! 🍿
We’re so proud of their hard work, creativity, and communication skills. 🌟
