Digital Instructional Materials

Digital resources are reviewed by the Teaching and Learning, Technology, and Information Technology departments for their instructional value and commitment to protect student data and privacy.  Software vendors who are signatories to the Student Privacy Pledge are designated by SPP in the descriptions below.

Adobe Spark for Education - Adobe Spark for Education is an online tool that enables students to express themselves via graphics, web stories and narrated videos.

Annotate- Annotate is a cloud based HTML5 web app that transforms your chromebook or mobile device into a whiteboard tool.

Brain Pop – This program is used by elementary teachers and students for academic tutorials. SPP  -  CK-12 provides a variety of open education resources in a Flexbook format.  CK-12 also provides physics and chemistry simulations and a variety of math and science resources, including  PLIX (Play Learn Interact and eXplore) modules, adaptive practice, and study guides 

Clever - Clever is an SSO (single sign-on solution) that allows students to login to instructional programs using their Google account or with saved credentials. SPP

ClassDojo - ClassDojo is a classroom behavior management and rewards program. SPP

CommonLit - CommonLit provides 2,000 high-quality free reading passages for grades 3-12, complemented by aligned interim assessments. SPP

DuoLingo - an app and website for learning world languages through games and repetition. Use by students under 13 requires parent permission.

Edgenuity – This program is used in the Lowndes Learning Center (LLC) at LHS  and at the Lowndes Alternative Program (LAP) at Parker Mathis Learning Center. This program provides full-course credit for LLC and LAP students, as well as credit recovery for Lowndes High School students. SPP

Edmentum Reading Eggs - This program is used by teachers and students in elementary grades K-2. SPP

Edmentum Study Island – The program is used by teachers and students in elementary grades and middle grades. SPP

EDPuzzle - EDPuzzle promotes engagement and student accountability by embedding questions in videos, including YouTube. SPP

Epic-Epic provides an opportunity for students to fill all those little time gaps during transitions and time after work is completed. Teachers can curate collections of books based on units of study, curriculum products such as Curious About Words, and individualized collections based on student Lexile Level or interest

FlipGrid - Flipgrid is a video discussion platform that enables students to create short videos to explore topics and to engage in discussions with classmates. Flipgrid includes access control and moderation tools for teachers. SPP

Flocabulary-Flocabulary is utilized as an activator for lessons as well as for direct instruction and remediation. SPP

GA Assesslets - Assesslets are offered in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Assesslets provide information on how well students understand concepts and are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in a particular content area or domain. They are formative tools aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence assessed on the Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) and End of Course (EOC) assessments. Items within each Assesslet are designed to require extended reasoning and critical thinking beyond basic recall.

GimKit - A live learning game for study and review.  For use in classrooms with students 13+.

Google G Suite for Education - Lowndes County Schools has adopted Google’s G Suite for Education (formerly called Google Apps for Education) to provide free online communication and productivity tools for students and teachers. G Suite for Education accounts are created for all students in grades K-12. G Suite Apps include Google Classroom, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sites, Google Keep, and Google Vault. SPP

ImagineLearning - Research-based, standards-aligned curriculum that builds core reading and academic language skills, including support in 15 languages. SPP

i-Ready - This is the universal screener used in the RtI process for middle schools. It is a K–12 adaptive diagnostic for reading and mathematics that pinpoints student needs down to the sub-skill level, and ongoing progress monitoring shows whether students are on track to achieve end-of-year targets.

IStation Reading – This program is used by elementary school students and teachers. SPP

Kahoot! - Kahoot! is a platform for creating and delivering quizzes for concept reinforcement.

Khan Academy - Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.

Keyboarding Without Tears – Used by elementary teachers and students to build keyboarding proficiency.

NearPod - NearPod is a tool that adds interactive questions and assessments into Google Slide Presentations to promote student engagement and to allow teachers to check student understanding “on the fly.” NearPod includes a library of interactive lessons from vetted sites. SPP

Newsela - Instructional content platform that features differentiated high-interest texts in reading, science and social studies. It contains engaging activities that encourage close reading and bring lessons to life. SPP

Pear Deck - Pear Deck is a tool that adds interactive questions and assessments into Google Slide Presentations to promote student engagement and to allow teachers to check student understanding “on the fly.” SPP

Performance Matters/Unify – This program is primarily used by teachers to deliver online assessments. The platform will also serve as a data repository. SPP

Quizizz - Quizizz is a web-based tool teachers use for quick checks and reviews.  Students can answer at their own pace. The site includes a library of quizzes.

Renaissance Learning – This program provides access to Freckle ELA and Math (elementary), STAR Early Literacy (elementary), STAR Reading (elementary), Accelerated Reader (elementary), and STAR Math (elementary). SPP

SeeSaw - SeeSaw is a tool that enables creation of portfolio of student work. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. SPP

Sight Reading Factory – Web-based program for practicing sight reading and sight singing. SPP

Splash Learn (formerly Splash Math) - Math learning games approved for grades K-2.

TinkerCad – This program enables students to create 3D drawings and projects for a 3D printer.  Allowed with provision students sign up using the teacher's email and teacher creates class using the Invite Code for monitoring.

USA Testprep – This program is used by high school teachers and students in preparation for the EOC and other assessments.

Write Reader - Students using WriteReader (with or without the help of an adult) will hear letters and the sounds they make as they author their own books. The process allows them to become authors while learning to read by writing

Write Score – This program provides formative literacy assessments aligned to grade-level standards. The assessments are built to look and feel like the state assessment students will ultimately take. The essays are scored and returned with an online data analysis summary and lesson plans and other resources to teach mastery.

XtraMath - This program provides drill and practice on the basic counting or calculating strategies. SPP

Zearn - This program closely aligns to the modules in Eureka Math and provides direct instruction and review on math principles. SPP
