The Human Resources Department (HR) strives daily to meet this goal and respond to the needs of our current and prospective employees. HR is committed to the recruitment, selection and retention of the most competent individuals for employment with Lowndes County Schools. We firmly believe employment of the best qualified individuals will ultimately determine the organization's level of performance. Therefore, our objective is to secure the services of highly qualified employees who are able to meet the instructional and organizational objectives of Lowndes County Schools. Please understand that submission and acceptance of an application does not necessarily mean that a vacancy exists. We routinely accept applications even when vacancies do not exist, so the system will have applications on file should a vacancy occur.

HR is responsible for the employment activities of 1400 employees. These include, but are not limited to, recruitment and development of an adequate applicant "pool," assisting in candidate selections, administration of AESOP and Veritime, background checks, teacher certification, preparation of employment contracts, placement of employees on appropriate salary schedules, administration of numerous employment related policies, serving as the custodian of employee records and coordinating a comprehensive employee benefit program. All of these activities are designed to support our staff and help move Lowndes County Schools from being a good school system to one that is great.
