Lowndes County Schools and Valdosta City Schools held a joint Winnersville Football 5K and One Mile Fun Run/Walk.  All proceeds will benefit the Lowndes Education Improvement Foundation and the Valdosta City Schools Foundation. Both foundations provide financial assistance that directly benefits teachers and students at every grade level within the school systems.

It was a huge success with 40 sponsors, over 200 entrants, and 205 actual runners/walkers.  Awards were given to the overall male and female finisher in the 5K and the top two male and female finishers in each age category.  All minors in the fun run will received an award.  Participants ranged from infants in strollers to the 80+ category.

You can’t have Winnersville without a bit of rivalry as a trophy was given to the school system that has the most attendees. Last year, Valdosta City Schools took home the trophy.  I am super proud to announce that Lowndes County Schools won the trophy this year!  As an incentive for our schools to get involved, the Lowndes Education Improvement Foundation (LEIF) will give our school with the highest percentage of participation a $1,000 grant.  We are excited to announce that Hahira Elementary School had the highest percentage of participants and will be the recipient of the $1,000 LEIF Grant!
