On October 27th, Pre-K and Kindergarten classes in the Lowndes County School System participated in the 11th anniversary of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign. Jumpstart’s national campaign helps address the educational inequities that leave many children unprepared for kindergarten, by engaging millions of children and adults in the world’s largest shared reading experience. Lowndes County school leaders partnered with an elementary school to participate in this 24-hour celebration to help children develop the language, literacy, and social-emotional skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success. Together, children and adults read this year’s official campaign book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach.
